PRODUCT DESCRIPTION  Our TDU-PRO TALKING DISPLAY UNIT is a completely solid state (no moving parts) Digital Message player, which is designed for messaging applications which require high audio quality and extreme reliability. TDU-PRO has been designed using the very latest technologies,to provide High Audio Quality, High Output, Extreme Operational Reliability all in a very compact package.     • It uses the latest MP3 technology to provide High Audio Quality.     • It has no moving parts to wear out or which require maintenance.     • It is designed to automatically restart after any power interruption.     • It has a powerful 8 Watt output. Message Applications include Product Promotion, Product Information, Message Warnings or any other message applications where up to 128 hours of audio needs to be accessed. TDU-PRO plays its Message as soon as it is triggered by a switch, sensor, PIR sensor (as used with security equipment) or other accessory that is connected to it. The message can then be output through a speaker attached direct to it, or through an existing distributed speaker system. Further triggering after the message is complete will cause the full message to play again, or if additional alternative messages have also been recorded onto the removable MMC Flash Memory Card, then they will each play, one at a time. Each switch, sensor or accessory triggering will cause one message to play. Once all messages have been played, TDU-PRO will again start with the first message. TDU-PRO can also be automatically triggered at user specified time intervals (from 1 to 254 minutes). Switches or Sensors can be normally open or normally closed and located up to 100m from TDU-PRO unit, or greater than 100m if low resistance wiring is used. Up to 12 separate switches or sensors can be connected toTDU-PRO when the MULTIPLE INPUT UNIT accessory is also used (see below for details). A wide range of 4 or 8 ohm speakers can be used with in order to meet individual customer requirements. Unpowered speakers can be used for localised messaging in small areas. Powered speakers can be used for medium sized areas and amplifiers can be used to power large areas. TDU-PROcan also be connected to an existing Public Address or existing in store speaker system, when the optional AUDIO SWITCHING UNIT accessory is used. Up to 12 separate speakers can be connected when the SPEAKER SWITCHING UNIT accessory is also used (see below for details).

MMC - FLASH CARD TDU-PRO uses a postage stamp sized 64MB MultiMedia flash card to store its Message(s), which means that message updates can be posted to you, allowing you to change your message(s) in seconds! The supplied flash card can hold 128 minutes of CD quality messages or music. TDU-PRO is supplied with an external USB MMC Flash card programmer that will allow you to quickly and easily transfer an MP3 based message (or messages) to the MultiMedia flash card. MESSAGE PROGRAMMING MMC Flash Cards are programmed with a USB MMC card programmer, which is supplied with the unit.). The MMC card programmer can be connected to any USB port located on your PC. If you are using Windows XP, you will not need to load a driver. If you are not using Windows XP, you may need to load a driver. Once installed, your PC will immediately recognize the USB programmer and provide it with a new drive letter. This will allow you to transfer MP3 files direct to the MMC Flash card by using Windows Explorer or another suitable program. To commence MMC card programming, you need only remove the MMC Flash Card from your TDU-PRO and insert it into the USB programmer. You can then TRANSFER your MP3 based messages to the MMC card by using Windows Explorer or another suitable program. You should transfer your MP3 messages in the order in which you want them to play. Message 1 should be the first message loaded. Message 2 should be the second message loaded (etc). Once programming of all required messages is complete, you should remove the MMC Flash Card from your USB programmer and insert it back into your TDU-PRO. MANUAL MESSAGE UPDATE TDU-PRO has a 'Hot Swappable' MMC card facility, which provides for quick and easy MMC Flash Card replacement. Replacing your message is simply a matter of removing the old MMC Flash Card (with your fingers) and replacing it with the replacement MMC Flash Card. There is no need to disconnect power to the TDU-PRO unit in order for it to recognize the new MMC card. AUTOMATIC - MESSAGE UPDATE   (via Internal Modem option) TDU-PRO is available with an internal High Speed Modem option (Model TDU-PRO/M). This option will allow you to transfer MP3 message updates direct to your TDU-PRO electronically. TDU-PRO’s High Speed Modem and the supplied proprietary transmission software will allow message updates to take place at the rate of approximately 1 minute transfer time for each 1 minute of message (at MP3 sampling rate 32kbps) or approximately 2 minutes of transfer time for each 1 minute of message (at MP3 sampling rate 64kbps), or approximately 4 minutes of transfer time for each 1 minute of message (at MP3 sampling rate 128kbps). INPUT OPTIONS 1. SINGLE SWITCH or SENSOR TDU-PRO is designed to operate with ANY Switch, or with ANY 12 volt ‘PIR' motion sensing detector. The switch or PIR should be connected direct to the SENSOR INPUT port of TDU-PRO. A connection box with screw terminals is provided.   2. MULTIPLE SWITCHES or SENSORS When the MULTIPLE INPUT UNIT (MIU) accessory is used with TDU-PRO, up to 12 separate Switches (‘Normally Open' or ‘Normally Closed) or PIR sensors can be used. A separate message can be associated with each sensor. Each sensor connects direct to the MIU and the MIU i s then connected direct to the SENSOR INPUT port of TDU-PRO. 3. AUTOMATIC TIME/DATE PLAY OPERATION TDU-PRO is available with an internal Battery Backed Real Time Clock option (Model TDU-PRO/T). With this option, TDU-PRO can be programmed with up to 255 scheduled Date/Time play events where it will then automatically play a specific messages, at fixed pre-programmed time and date settings. This accessory is accurate to within 2 minutes per year and the internal clock can be qickly and easily updated as necessary for Daylight Savings or State to State time changes. OUTPUT OPTIONS 1. SINGLE SPEAKER For local messaging, TDU-PRO can be used with any 4 or 8 Ohm un-powered speaker. For larger areas, TDU-PRO can be used with any 4 or 8 Ohm powered speaker, or with an appropriate amplifier. The Single Speaker should be connected direct to the AUDIO output port of TDU-PRO. A volume control knob and High/Low output slide switch are mounted on the underside of TDU-PRO for volume adjustment. 2. MULTIPLE SPEAKERS When the SPEAKER SWITCHING UNIT (SSU) accessory is used with TDU-PRO and the MIU, any combination of up to 12 separate speakers can be used, so that a separate message and output speaker can then be associated with each sensor. 3. AUDIO SWITCHING UNIT Where an existing Public Address or Background Music speaker system is already available and you wish to output TDU-PRO messages via this system, then the optional AUDIO SWITCHING UNIT (ASU) accessory should be used. ASU will automatically connect TDU-PRO messages when triggered and at the same time remove or fade the normal audio source. Fading from 15-100% is achieved with a variable pot.

SPEAKER INPUT UNIT Allows up to 12 speakers to be connected to the audio output of TDU-PRO, when used in conjunction with the Multiple Input Unit.
